"empeg web interface" is a add-on that provides a web interface to control various features of your empeg via Hijack's built-in khttpd server.

The latest version is 1.3 - Download here

  • Popup windows for the remote, display, and now playing info
  • Support for the new Insert/Enqueue/Append serial commands
  • Popup Tune Info shows detailed information for a single tune (click the music note icon)
  • Now playing info automatically refreshes (thanks Aragon!)
  • Now playing shows an appropriate error message if notify=1 is not enabled
  • Almost all files moved to /drive0/opt/khttpd/charcoalgray99/ for a cleaner root directory

empeg Software: 2.0b13
Hijack: v287+
Browser: IE6, or IE5.5 + XML Core Services 4.0, or Mozilla 1.0 (limited support)

If you are running IE 5.5 and you see strange code on the screen such as EEEEEE FFFF ?fid=&ext.m3u, then you do not have the proper XML core services installed. Please click here to install them.

Unzip into a temporary directory. First, you must mount your disk drives read-write. For more information on how to do this, please read the FAQ. Using your favorite ftp client, transfer the contents to your empeg root directory while maintaining the proper subfolder structure. When you are done, mount your drives read-only.

Open your web browser and goto your empeg's ip address or hostname. Ex: http://your.empeg.ipaddress/

For the Now Playing info to work, you must edit your config.ini to include [output] notify=1 For more information on how to do this, please read the FAQ.

For optimum FTP Browser support add your empeg as a trusted site in IE. Click Tools -> Internet Options. Click on the Security tab. Select Trusted Sites and click on Sites. Add "ftp://your.empeg.ipaddress/" and "http://your.empeg.ipaddress/" without the quotes. Click OK, OK, and restart IE.

empegVNC is a java applet which replaces the default html fascia display. This allows the display to update in real time, however it does consume more resources and has a few glitches (like not releasing the applet after changing pages). To enable support for empegVNC, open the jscripts.js file and comment the appropriate line near the top. Then, download empegVNC and install using the instructions here. By default, empegVNC is not used.

If you are installing over a previous installation, you may want to clean up the old files. It is safe to delete everything in the "/images" directory off the root. You may also delete html and xsl files in the root except for index.html, which should be overwritten with a new version.
